Letter from the
2004 Salute to Excellence Awards Chairman
Dear NABJ Members and Friends,
It is my pleasure to announce the 2004 National Association of Black
Journalists Salute to Excellence Awards!
Each year, NABJ honors outstanding coverage of people or issues
in the African diaspora. The competition covers print, television,
radio and new media coverage with awards in 31 categories. Now is
the time to submit your entries. On NABJ.org, you will find descriptions
of the categories, competition guidelines and a copy of the entry
form. The deadline for submissions is March 31, 2004.
A distinguished panel of judges will decide the winners to be announced
at a special ceremony in Washington, D.C. on October 9, 2004. The
Salute to Excellence Awards maintains NABJ’s commitment to
one of its core principles: to honor excellence and the outstanding
achievements by African-American journalists and the media industry,
particularly when it comes to balanced coverage of the black community
and society at large. We look forward to your participation.
Sincerely,
Mike Woolfolk
Chairman
