Ethel Payne Fellowship NABJ awards two $5,000 fellowships to enable
its members to obtain reporting experiences in Africa.
Fellowships are part of NABJ’s World Affairs committee and are designed
for print and broadcast journalists who have a strong interest in Africa but
limited opportunities to cover the continent. Winners are selected based upon
the strength of their proposals to cover issues relating to one or more African
countries. Winners must spend up to three weeks in Africa and produce news reports
for NABJ.
Qualifications
- NABJ Member
- Full-Time journalists or freelancer
- Five Years of journalism experience Requirements
- 800-word project proposal
- 300-word essay on applicant’s journalistic experiences
- Three samples of work that have been published or aired
- Two letters of recommendation
- Completed application form
Winners must arrange travel to Africa and complete their news reports between
February 2, 2004 and December 31, 2004. Download
