NABJ recognizes the outstanding work of journalists
through three major awards programs. They are:
NABJ Hall
of Fame
Seven distinguished journalists became charter members
of the NABJ Hall of Fame on April 5, 1990, at a ceremony in Washington.
The Board of Directors has approved measures calling on NABJ each year
to induct black journalists who have made outstanding contributions
to the journalism profession.

Special
Honors
NABJ's most coveted awards honor journalists for groundbreaking
accomplishments ranging from lifetime achievement, to journalist of
the year, to extraordinary performance in the face of extreme adversity,
and more.

Salute
to Excellence
NABJ seeks to honor outstanding coverage of people or
issues in the African diaspora. Competition is open to all professional
print, television, radio and photo journalists. The 2004 winners will be
honored at a special awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on October 9,
2004.
